Hello,
my name is Dr. Amanda Khamis. I am the director and lead speech pathologist at The Chirpy Swallow.
I have over 15 years' experience with infants, children, and adults with a history of medical complexity and disability. I have worked in large disability organisations, hospitals, NICUs, multidisciplinary clinics, and schools.
My special interests are in infant feeding, complex communication needs, and augmentative alternative communication (AAC), physical disability, and much more. There's not much that I love more than a delicious meal or a chat with my loved ones, and its my life's mission to support others to have the opportunity to also experience these simple pleasures in life.
I have completed a PhD, researching feeding assessments and intensive therapy for infants with feeding and swallowing difficulties. I have authored a number of papers, which are published in medical journals and presented my research at several international conferences. I also won the Faculty of Medicine and Health, the University of Sydney 3 minute thesis finals, and I was runner-up in the Asia Pacific finals, you can watch the recording here: https://vimeo.com/749590157
